Aurora tries to seduce the hunter Cefalo, who resists her advances. He loves only his wife, Procride. In revenge, the offended goddess persuades him to test his wife's fidelity… But the Athenian princess is also gripped by jealousy – her mistrust of Cefalo culminates in a fatal error. Will the gods' compassion bring about a happy ending?

Michiel Dijkema, known for his imaginative productions and recipient of numerous international opera awards, makes his debut at the Potsdam Music Festival as director and set designer with Bononcini's one-act opera. Bernhard Forck conducts the Baroque specialists of the Academy for Ancient Music Berlin and an excellent, virtuosic ensemble of singers.
